ALEX BISHOP
President & KOM Coach
Alex Bishop, originally from St. John's, NL, has always had a bike. Cycling has been a way for Alex to stay in shape after his very active career in the Canadian Forces. Throughout his career in the CF, Alex accumulated 20 years of training in leadership and classroom instructional techniques, which he now uses to assist in teaching cycling safety and riding techniques. As an avid road, mountain and gravel cyclist, he believes that everyone can enjoy cycling and every child should own a bike. In his spare time he seeks out bikes to refurbish and give them to whoever is in need. He has ridden throughout most of Canada and on some of the most notorious cobbled roads in France, Belgium and the Nederland's as part of the Battle Field Bike Ride 2015, which raised $500,000 for Wounded Warrior Canada, an organization that supports injured soldiers. Alex strives to be a positive advocate and role model for the sport of cycling.
BERNARD NEUHOFER
KOM Coach
Preferring two wheels to four, Bernhard has natural enthusiasm to share with others. As a child in Austria, he wore out tires pedaling all over his village. His affinity for balanced transportation grew over the years, participating in ad hoc mountain bike clubs in Inglis and in Winnipeg. In 2001, Bernhard and a friend launched the Asessippi X-country and Downhill bike races, which became part of the MB Cycling Association circuit. Long-time participation in observed motorcycle trials has introduced him to bicycle trials and the technical nature of both activities appeals to him, as it provides wide-ranging opportunity for each rider to progress at his/her individual level of skill. He has participated in SK Flatland Trials Association events, including hosting one event in their circuit in 2014. That same year, he participated in Trials De Nations in France, as a minder for the Canadian national team. Bernhard appreciates the sense of community within bicycling and motorcycling groups. In 2009, he and two others traveled Russell - Inuvik by motorcycle, on a trip that connected them with nature and fellow travellers in a way no 4-wheeled transportation can. He is still in awe of two women cycling up the Dempster Highway - one on a foldable bicycle! Bernhard is a former science and math teacher and a recipient of the Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence certificate of achievement. He is a former instructor at KTM motorcycles of Mattighofen, Austria. In addition to his joy for the recreational aspects of bicycling, his physics background brings in a keen element of teaching others how to use their equipment better, and how to protect themselves while doing it.
ART PASH
KOM Coach
Art Pash began street riding in Russell MB and has 17 plus years of experience. 2004 was his first trip to the mountains to experience his first down hilling bike ride. Since then he has been traveling to the mountains every summer to ride. His passion for down hilling is contagious as he has introduced more than 10 people to the sport. Art has rode trails at Asessippi MB, Buffalo Pound SK, Fernie Alpine resort BC , Silver Star resort BC and Kicking Horse resort BC. When he’s not riding in the mountains you can find him free riding in the local surrounding towns.
